Happy Spring ~ Trees are in bloom, the weather is amazing and jackets are coming off! Please come by the Lost and Found area, by the front of the office, and look to see if any of your students’ missing jackets or sweatshirts might be located there. Lost and Found Items not picked up will be donated to a local charity.
Free At-Home Antigen Test ~ We want to inform all of our families that the State will be providing a free At-Home Antigen Test for every student prior to leaving on Spring Break. The goal is to allow each student to be screened with a COVID test on Sunday, April 10, 2022, prior to the return to school on Monday following Spring Break. Although this is not required, we highly recommend that each family use the antigen test to test each school-age child prior to their return to school on Monday, April 11, 2022. Screening each student with a COVID test prior to the return to school will help to mitigate further exposures. As we know many will be traveling over the break, we appreciate this extra precaution SLV families can take to ensure our schools continue to stay open for our students and families. We hope everyone has a wonderful Spring Break.
Need Kindergarten? ~ Kindergarten will be a full-day program (8:30 – 2:44) starting with the 2022-23 school year! Registration for Fall 2022 will open on Monday, March 21st. Visit the BCE office to pick up a registration packet.
Children must be five years old by September 1st in order to enroll in kindergarten. If your student turns 5 between September 2nd 2022 and June 1st 2023, you might be interested in our Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program. Covid Screening News! ~ The district has partnered with Inspire Diagnostics to offer an outdoor walk-up PCR testing site, open to the entire school community, at the District Office, 325 Marion Ave, Ben Lomond, CA. It will be open starting March 7, 2022, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (excluding holidays) from 1-5 pm.
The site is available for symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals, and most test results are returned within 24-hours — comparatively, faster than most alternatives. Students and their families, and staff and their families are welcome to utilize this free service. Those needing a test simply need to fill out the registration one time at http://sccoe.link/inspiresc and can go to any Inspire Diagnostics site. No appointment is required.
Our weekly and exposure testing will continue at the school sites for students and staff.
2022-23 Calendar ~ The 2022 – 2023 SLVUSD Calendar has been approved and published. Click here to view the calendar. This information will help you plan your family vacations during times that won’t impact your student’s learning.
Covid ~ If your student has any Covid symptoms, please do not bring them to school or put them on a bus. Please call the attendance line (831-338-2887) to let us know. We want to be smart and vigilant as we move forward. Students coming to school with symptoms will create positive cases on our campus and we want to keep our BCE family safe.
Reminder ~ see the link below to sign your student up for weekly Covid screening and/or Covid testing in the case of positive close contact at school. Registration will give permission for both weekly and close contact testing, however, if you would like to opt of weekly screening and opt-in for close contact testing only, you can email our Health Clerk, Kat Gafford ([email protected]), and let her know your preference (Be sure to include your student’s name, grade, and teacher.) Registration before exposure allows us to respond quickly to close contact exposures and support the health and safety of all our students.
Parents are able to opt-out of weekly screenings but opt into exposure testing only by emailing [email protected]. After you register, please send Ms. Gafford an email stating you would like to opt your student out of the weekly screening, but keep them in the exposure-only screenings. Be sure to include your student’s name, grade, and teacher.
