Happy New Year! ~ I hope you all had a wonderful Winter Break and were able to enjoy lots of quality time with those amazing students of yours. 2022 promises to be an exciting (hopefully not too exciting!) year full of growing, learning and appreciating our BCE community.
Covid ~ If your student has any Covid symptoms, please do not bring them to school or put them on a bus. Please call the attendance line (831-338-2887) to let us know. We want to be smart and vigilant as we move forward from Winter Break. Students coming to school with symptoms will create positive cases on our campus and we want to keep our BCE family safe.
Student Safety ~ Please help us keep our kids safe by reading these safety reminders.
- Unless you have a handicap placard, please do not drive onto campus.
- Please listen to and follow the directions of our crossing guards whether you are walking or driving. We had a few close calls this week with people not following directions when driving or walking.
- Students should not arrive on campus, unless they are enrolled at the YMCA, before 8:10am. There is no supervision on the playgrounds before 8:10 or after school.
- Students who will be getting breakfast can go straight to the Multi-Purpose Room after 7:50.
- Students should not be on the play structures without a staff member present.
- TK & Kinder families, if you are picking up your student at the end of the day, please arrive on campus no more than 5 minutes before dismissal time.
- In order to limit exposure to our unvaccinated students, all adults are asked to limit their time on campus as much as possible.
- The play structures and fields are closed to play before 8:10 and after student dismissal.
Thank you for your compliance and support as we work to keep our students safe.
Canned Food Drive = I am so proud of our BCE Bears! We’re still in the middle of fire recovery and debris flow watch. We still in the middle of a pandemic. We’re still in the middle of learning how to be back and school and making up for lost time. Yet…a record number of bins were filled with food and donated to Valley Churches for their food pantry. Thank you for supporting this important project and nurturing your student’s sense of community and generosity.
Site Council ~ Our Site Council plays an important role at BCE. The school site council is a group of teachers, parents, classified employees, that works with the principal to develop, review and evaluate school improvement programs and school budgets.
If you are interested in serving on the Site Council for the 2021-22 school year, please complete this application and return it to Margaret Zavaroni in our office no later than next Friday, January 14.

Triple P Positive Parenting ~ Are offering free workshops and an 8 week group to parents and caregivers, and they will be in the evenings on Zoom. The 8 week group is in English for parents of 2-12 year olds, and the workshops are on Setting Healthy Screen Time Limits and Encouraging Creativity, as well as another popular workshop on Encouraging Your Child's Self Esteem. Registration is required and to do so the links are on the flyers, then you will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link.

Reminder ~ see the link below to sign your student up for weekly Covid screening and/or Covid testing in the case of positive close contact at school. Registration will give permission for both weekly and close contact testing, however if you would like to opt of weekly screening and opt in for close contact testing only, you can email our Health Clerk, Kat Gafford ([email protected]) and let her know your preference (Be sure to include your student’s name, grade and teacher.) Registration before exposure allows us to respond quickly to close contact exposures and support the health and safety of all our students.
Parents are able to opt out of weekly screenings, but opt into exposure testing only by emailing [email protected]. After you register, please send Ms. Gafford an email stating you would like to opt your student out of the weekly screening, but keep them in the exposure only screenings. Be sure to include your student’s name, grade and teacher.
