Happy Holidays! ~ As we say a hearty and heartfelt good-bye to 2021, I want to wish all our BCE families and friends a wonderful Winter Break. I hope you are able to unplug and spend some face to face time, rather than screen time, with your extra special students! I’m looking forward to seeing you all back in 2022 and continuing our important work together. Stay safe and be well!
Holiday Gift Drive ~ I’d like to send out a big bundle of love and appreciation to our BCE Parent Club (especially Dawn Harker, Elizabeth Marzili and Ebin Warner) for all the hard work and commitment that went into organizing this special event. Each child at BCE was able to pick out a gift of their choice and take it home with them. The looks on their faces was priceless and even more heartwarming was the number of children that were choosing gifts to give a sibling or to donate to a needy family.
We are so lucky to have such an amazing Parent Club and generous community supporting our students and families. THANK YOU!

COVID-19 TESTING FOR THE SCHOOL COMMUNITY
Adequate testing is one of the key components required to be in place in order for schools to resume in-person instruction safely and prevent the transmission of COVID-19. The Santa Cruz County Office of Education and all Santa Cruz County School Districts and Charter Schools have partnered to make asymptomatic and symptomatic testing available to school personnel, students, and families at no cost.
Drive-through PCR testing: Three outdoor drive-through PCR testing sites are now open to the entire school community. These sites are available for symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals, and most test results are returned within 24-hours — comparatively, faster than most alternatives. Students and their families, and staff and their families are welcome to utilize this free service. Those needing a test simply need to fill out the registration one time at http://sccoe.link/inspiresc and go to any site. No appointment is required. Locations/times:
- Santa Cruz County Office of Education Annex parking lot, 399 Encinal St.
- Cabrillo College in Aptos, Parking Lot K.
- PVUSD District Office parking lot.

Reminder ~ see the link below to sign your student up for weekly Covid screening and/or Covid testing in the case of positive close contact at school. Registration will give permission for both weekly and close contact testing, however if you would like to opt of weekly screening and opt in for close contact testing only, you can email our Health Clerk, Kat Gafford ([email protected]) and let her know your preference (Be sure to include your student’s name, grade and teacher.) Registration before exposure allows us to respond quickly to close contact exposures and support the health and safety of all our students.
Parents are able to opt out of weekly screenings, but opt into exposure testing only by emailing [email protected]. After you register, please send Ms. Gafford an email stating you would like to opt your student out of the weekly screening, but keep them in the exposure only screenings. Be sure to include your student’s name, grade and teacher.
