Take some hail, add some freezing temperatures then throw in some sunshine! It’s been a crazy week, but we made it through. This week has reminded me of the resiliency and flexibility of our BCE family. Wishing you all a wonderful and relaxing weekend and we’ll see you back here on Monday.

2022-23 Calendar ~ The 2022 – 2023 SLVUSD Calendar has been approved and published. Click here to view the calendar. This information will help you plan your family vacations during times that won’t impact your student’s learning.
Masking Policy ~ While much of California and Santa Cruz County are soon lifting the mask mandates for indoor spaces, this change does not apply to schools. BCE and all SLVUSD schools will continue to require all staff, students and visitors to wear masks while indoors. Thank you for your continuing support as we do our best to keep our school community safe.

Covid ~ If your student has any Covid symptoms, please do not bring them to school or put them on a bus. Please call the attendance line (831-338-2887) to let us know. We want to be smart and vigilant as we move forward. Students coming to school with symptoms will create positive cases on our campus and we want to keep our BCE family safe.
Reminder ~ see the link below to sign your student up for weekly Covid screening and/or Covid testing in the case of positive close contact at school. Registration will give permission for both weekly and close contact testing, however, if you would like to opt of weekly screening and opt-in for close contact testing only, you can email our Health Clerk, Kat Gafford ([email protected]), and let her know your preference (Be sure to include your student’s name, grade and teacher.) Registration before exposure allows us to respond quickly to close contact exposures and support the health and safety of all our students.
Parents are able to opt out of weekly screenings but opt into exposure testing only by emailing [email protected]. After you register, please send Ms. Gafford an email stating you would like to opt your student out of the weekly screening, but keep them in the exposure-only screenings. Be sure to include your student’s name, grade, and teacher.

Sensory Path at BCE: A sensory path will be created on the campus of BCE during the summer of 2022. Sensory paths give students a chance to spend a few minutes of their day walking, jumping, bouncing and pushing themselves through their distractions. Experts say sensory paths can also help students develop motor skills, including balance, hand-eye coordination, and spatial awareness. An Instagram account has been created for this project and can be found @bcesensorypath.
Lost and Found: We have iron-on labels for you! Please reach out to the parent club if you need labels for your coats and pick your coats from Lost and Found. If there is a classroom number on your coat it will be delivered to the classroom.
