Dear BCE Families,
Halloween Costumes ~ As Halloween approaches; I know many students are planning their Halloween costumes. There are a few guidelines regarding costumes. Costumes should be in good taste and safely constructed so that they do not interfere with regular class activities. Gruesome costumes and bloody, fake wounds are not appropriate for an elementary school. Weapons (including fakes), skateboards and roller blades are not allowed as part of costumes. If you are unsure, please contact your child’s teacher or the office before purchasing the costume. Approved masks must be worn outside during the parade as students will be in close proximity. Costume masks can be worn on top of their regular school masks.
Halloween Parade ~ On Friday October 29th our students will be participating in an on campus Halloween parade. Due to our current situation, this year’s event will be for our BCE students only. We are asking that no family members or visitors be on campus during this event. Our students have missed a lot over the last 19 months. The only way we can make this happen for them is to keep it open to students only. Thanks for your support and understanding.
Rain, Rain Don't Go Away! ~ I think we all appreciated getting some rain this week. It was fun to see so many of our students, who have grown up during our drought, enjoying this novel event.
We Need Your Support ~ If there is a change in who will be picking up your student, or how they are getting home, please call the office or have your student bring a note to the office. On a regular basis we are having adults come in asking to pick up a student. If we don't have communication, we often have to call the family to verify the arrangement. Additionally, we'll have students not sure how they're getting home, if they should take the bus or not being sure who's going to pick them up. One of our important jobs is to keep your student's safe. We appreciate your support in this matter.
4th Grade Families ~ If you have a 4th grader, you and your family can now get into some of our beautiful California State Parks for free. In partnership with the First Partner’s Office and the Natural Resources Agency, the California State Park Adventure Pass provides free entry for fourth graders and their families at 19 amazing state parks throughout the state. Mountains, deserts, forests, rivers … the choice of where to visit is yours. Learn more About the California State Park Adventure Pass.
School Pictures ~ Our photographers from Lifetouch have contacted us to let us know that their processing of school is taking longer than expected. We are being told that they should ship out on approximately November 5th. Due to this delay, we will be changing our School Picture Make-up Day to Wednesday November 17th.
Bus Safety ~ Half of our students were able to participate in our School Bus Safety presentation on Tuesday. The other half was scheduled to participate on Thursday but, with the rain, the presentation had to be cancelled. We're working with our transportation Department to reschedule ASAP.

During this 6 week group, students will learn how to use different types of sensory input to manage the uncomfortable feelings of anxiety and worry. Each week will focus on a different sense, giving students multiple options for application.

Reminder ~ see the link below to sign your student up for weekly Covid screening and/or Covid testing in the case of positive close contact at school. Registration will give permission for both weekly and close contact testing, however if you would like to opt of weekly screening and opt in for close contact testing only, you can email our Health Clerk, Kat Gafford ([email protected]) and let her know your preference (Be sure to include your student’s name, grade and teacher.) Registration before exposure allows us to respond quickly to close contact exposures and support the health and safety of all our students.
Parents are able to opt out of weekly screenings, but opt into exposure testing only by emailing [email protected]. After you register, please send Ms. Gafford an email stating you would like to opt your student out of the weekly screening, but keep them in the exposure only screenings. Be sure to include your student’s name, grade and teacher.

We Need Your Pictures! If you volunteer in the classrooms or are on campus for drop off and pickup, please snap some pics of your student and classmates and upload through the Tree Ring App to have them featured in the yearbook. This will be especially great for Halloween as no parents are allowed on campus for the parade this year.

BCE Parents Club meeting October summary: The 2021-2022 budget will be voted on at the next meeting. If you need a copy to view in advance please reach out to [email protected], Subject: Budget. We will be implementing an online form to track donations of goods for tax purposes. Family Dinner Night benefiting the 4th grade will be River Dogs on October 27th from 5PM to 8 PM. We are going to be adding a new partner in our shopping fundraisers. Renee’s Garden sells seeds in Felton, CA. 20% of sales will be donated to BCE. The Book Fair will be online, details to follow. Spiritwear orders are going in, but there is an issue with ordering the masks. Everyone who ordered masks will be contacted. It is National Disability Awareness month. Necesitamos su apoyo ~ Si hay un cambio en quien va a recoger a su estudiante o cómo van a llegar a casa, por favor llame a la oficina o haga que su estudiante traiga una nota a la oficina. Fotos de la escuela ~ Nuestros fotógrafos de Lifetouch se han puesto en contacto con nosotros para hacernos saber que su procesamiento de la escuela está tomando más tiempo de lo esperado.
