December 19, 2019
Dear BCE Families,
Happy Holidays! ~ As we say good-bye to 2019 I want to wish all our BCE families and friends a wonderful Winter Break. I hope you are able to spend some extra quality time with your extra special students! I’m looking forward to seeing you all back in 2020 and continuing our important work together.
Reminder ~ There is NO SCHOOL tomorrow. Winter Break runs from December 20 through January 3.
2020-2021 School Calendar ~ Click here to view the 2020-2021 SLVUSD School Calendar. The first day of school will be August 13, 2020. Please plan your family vacations accordingly. Missing the first few days of school is particularly difficult for students as that if the time students and teachers are building their community as well as establishing the routines and structures that will guide their year.
Joy ~ If you have a kindergartner or first grader I hope you were able to make it to their holiday singing performances this week. If you had the opportunity to see those bright shiny faces and hear their beautiful singing, you know the meaning and feeling of joy!
Canned Food Drive ~ Thank you all for your generous donations to The Valley Christmas Projects Food Drive. BCE collected 100’s of nonperishable food items that will be used to support families in our community. Sharing is caring and our BCE family cares a lot about our community! Thank you.
Science Fair ~ Just a reminder that the BCE Science Fair will be taking place January 23 – January 25, 2020. All students, K through 5th grade, are invited to participate. This is a reminder that San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District policy, as set by the Board of Trustees, declares that we are a fragrant-neutral district. As we continue to have assemblies and other site-based activities and meetings, please take care to follow the policies below for the sake of the students and members of our community who are highly allergic to fragrances and scents.
The SLVUSD Board of Trustees adopted a California School Board Association policy to make all district classrooms and offices fragrant neutral. BCE has parents, students, and community members with respiratory issues who can have negative reactions to fragrances. Please take care to follow the policy while on campus.
Staff and students shall refrain from bringing furred or feathered animals, stuffed toys that may collect dust mites, scented candles, incense or air fresheners and from using perfume or cologne, scented hair spray, nail polish or nail polish remover that are not fragrance-free in classrooms or other enclosed areas or buildings.
