November 9, 2018

Dear BCE Families,

Reminder ~ Just a reminder that there will be NO SCHOOL on Monday. November 12.  We will be celebrating Veterans’ Day and honoring our veterans, past and present, who have served the United States.

Important Calendar Information ~ Just a reminder that Family Conferences will resume on Tuesday November 13 after the Veteran’s Day holiday.  We will be on a minimum day schedule.  Kindergarten will be dismissed at 11:50, 1st – 3rd will be dismissed at 12:10 and 4th and 5th graders will be dismissed at 12:15.

BCE Book Fair ~ The Book Fair will take place in our library during Family Conference week, 11/9 & 11/13 – 11/16, hours are 8 am – 4 pm with the exception of Friday 11/16 when the Book Fair will close at 2 pm. Our book fairs are the only source of funding available to our library and all profits go to purchase new books and library equipment for BCE students.  When you’re visiting campus for your student’s conference, consider stopping by for a look and perhaps even some holiday shopping!

Up Coming Events ~ Just a reminder that two important events are quickly approaching.  Our annual Valley Churches Food Drive will be up and running next week and the BCE Gift Shift is scheduled for December.  As you clean out pantries and closets in preparation for holiday gifts and meals, you may want to consider donating to these two important events.

Family Science Night ~ It was wonderful that so many of you were able to attend our Family Science Night last week.  What a wonderful Parent Club we have to organize such an educational and magical event!  A big shout out and thank you to all the parent volunteers who made it happen.  How lucky we are to have a community that supports our students in so many ways!

This is a reminder that San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District policy, as set by the Board of Trustees, declares that we are a fragrant-neutral district. As we continue to have assemblies and other site-based activities and meetings, please take care to follow the policies below for the sake of the students and members of our community who are highly allergic to fragrances and scents.

The SLVUSD Board of Trustees adopted a California School Board Association policy to make all district classrooms and offices fragrant neutral. BCE has parents, students, and community members with respiratory issues who can have negative reactions to fragrances. Please take care to follow the policy while on campus.

Staff and students shall refrain from bringing furred or feathered animals, stuffed toys that may collect dust mites, scented candles, incense or air fresheners and from using perfume or cologne, scented hair spray, nail polish or nail polish remover that are not fragrance-free in classrooms or other enclosed areas or buildings.
