Dear BCE Families,
Looking Good! ~ Our BCE website has a new look! The crossover to the new platform will be a work in progress, and I want to thank you in advance for your patience. Our new web page will closely resemble that of the other SLVUSD schools making navigating the websites easier as your student goes on to middle and then high school. Take a look at bce.slvusd.org.
BCE’s Holiday Gift Shift ~ Please mark your calendar for the annual BCE Gift Shift, on Friday, December 14, 12:30 - 6:00. We will be collecting gently used toys, books, videos, and video games; however, we do not accept clothing items. This year we will also have a section with items suitable for children to give to adults. Donations can be delivered to the office at Boulder Creek Elementary now. We will set up everything on Thursday, December 13.
Canned Food Drive ~ The Valley Christmas Project Canned Food Drive is off and running. Please send in your non-perishable donations to help support families in our community. This is a great opportunity for our children to discover the good feeling we receive when we do good things for others.
Holiday Bazaar ~ I hope you can join me tomorrow for our Holiday Bazaar and Arts & Crafts Fair sponsored by our wonderful BCE Parent Club. All proceeds from this event will go towards BCE’s goal of becoming a Certified Green Organization. This special event will take place in BCE’s MP room beginning at 10 am and ending at 2 pm. I hope to see you there!
Help Please! ~ Please make sure your students stay close to you during after school pick up. We have many students who appear to be unsupervised playing on the equipment or running up the hills which is not safe and off limits. We want to make sure all our BCE Bears are safe and following the BCE Way.
Calendar Note ~ Just a heads up that Winter Break will begin on a Friday this year. The last day of school for 2018 will be Thursday December 20; Friday December 21 is a school holiday.
Up Coming Dates to Remember
- Tomorrow = Holiday Bazaar, Arts & Crafts Fair (10:00-2:00 BCE MP)
- Thursday 12/6 = Parent Club Meeting, 6 pm BCE Library (childcare provided)
- Monday 11/17 = Family Dinner Night, Boulder Creek Pizza & Pub
- Friday 12/21 – 1/4 = No School (Winter Break)
Perseverance Quote of the Week:
“The most essential factor is persistence – the determination never to allow your energy or enthusiasm to be dampened by the discouragement that must inevitably come.”
~James Whitcomb Riley
Thank you for supporting your student by getting them to school and being on time every day!
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
The BCE Way: BE RESPECTFUL, BE SAFE, BE RESPONSIBLE
WAIT, WAIT, DON’T STOP! PLEASE CONTINUE READING TO SEE IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND UPDATES FROM OUR AMAZING BCE PARENT CLUB!
This is a reminder that San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District policy, as set by the Board of Trustees, declares that we are a fragrant-neutral district. As we continue to have assemblies and other site-based activities and meetings, please take care to follow the policies below for the sake of the students and members of our community who are highly allergic to fragrances and scents.
The SLVUSD Board of Trustees adopted a California School Board Association policy to make all district classrooms and offices fragrant neutral. BCE has parents, students, and community members with respiratory issues who can have negative reactions to fragrances. Please take care to follow the policy while on campus.
Staff and students shall refrain from bringing furred or feathered animals, stuffed toys that may collect dust mites, scented candles, incense or air fresheners and from using perfume or cologne, scented hair spray, nail polish or nail polish remover that are not fragrance-free in classrooms or other enclosed areas or buildings.

The Flyer Process for San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District is posted on the “home” page of the District website at www.slvusd.org. The flyers and/or blurbs are no longer inserted into the school newsletters or distributed to the children. The District is making an effort to reduce the amount of paper that is sent home with your child(ren) and is working together to streamline the newsletter so that you read about the most important information regarding your child’s school. The District has created a website where all of the approved flyers will be posted (Community Opportunity).
