Dear BCE Families,

5th grade STEM Camp ~ Please click here to see a flyer regarding an opportunity for our 5th graders to attend a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Summer Camp.  The STEM Camp will be held at SLV Middle School.

From our Superintendent, Dr. Laurie Bruton ~ Each year I share information with parent groups at each school site regarding the instructional program in SLVUSD.  This is an opportunity for parents, to review the district priorities and action plans and provide feedback to the district.

The LCAP survey is one way that the district gathers input from staff and parents. Please take a minute to take the LCAP survey and add your thoughts and comments. Your opinion matters and services and programs for students are added each year based on many of your responses. We will be reviewing the information on the surveys on April 10, 2018 to write our final LCAP plan and budget for 2019-2020.

Thank you for your support for the SLVUSD staff and students. -Laurie Bruton

Here is the link for the LCAP survey.

This is a reminder that San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District policy, as set by the Board of Trustees, declares that we are a fragrant-neutral district. As we continue to have assemblies and other site-based activities and meetings, please take care to follow the policies below for the sake of the students and members of our community who are highly allergic to fragrances and scents.

The SLVUSD Board of Trustees adopted a California School Board Association policy to make all district classrooms and offices fragrant neutral. BCE has parents, students, and community members with respiratory issues who can have negative reactions to fragrances. Please take care to follow the policy while on campus.

Staff and students shall refrain from bringing furred or feathered animals, stuffed toys that may collect dust mites, scented candles, incense or air fresheners and from using perfume or cologne, scented hair spray, nail polish or nail polish remover that are not fragrance-free in classrooms or other enclosed areas or buildings.

URGENT YEARBOOK: Yearbook is in dire need of some photos uploaded by parents and teachers. Currently we’d LOVE to see more pictures of Learning Garden, P.E. Library, Spirit Days (all those pictures you snap of your kiddo with wacky hair, twin day etc. before leaving the house are great!) Teachers that currently need more pictures from their classroom are Peterson, Thomsen and VahradianAll photos need to be uploaded by April 30th, but the sooner the better!!! Also, PLEASE upload your pictures to the SHARED FOLDERS and NOT the shared photo tab. Under the shared folders tab there are folders for each category.

Also, if you haven’t ordered your yearbook yet, now is the time to do so!!! Orders are due ASAP, and you, as a parent, get to customize 2 pages of your child’s yearbook with trips, out of school activities like dance, art, music, sports etc. This is such a cool way to have your child FEATURED! To order the yearbook head over to and enter the school code: 10152329238788. You will then be able to order for the low price of $21. 53.

Lastly, the yearbook is looking for key people to be part of the yearbook team for next year! Besides those parents who love to do a class page, the yearbook needs a committee of 3-5 parents who want to help on a deeper level. If you’re interested please contact Tiffany at with a subject title 2019-2020 yearbook team.
